Introduction of Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children
Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Chongqing Maternity Hospital, Chongqing Institute of Reproduction and Genetics) was set up in 1944 as a tertiary class-A (the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals) maternal and child care center integrating clinical medicine, maternal and child healthcare, scientific research and teaching.
As of December 2020, 1,734 employees were working at the hospital, including 1,319 health professionals and technicians, 129 employees with senior professional titles, 38 PhD holders, one expert who has received a special allowance from the State Council, one winner of the Bethune Medal, one chief medical expert of Chongqing, one outstanding talent of Chongqing in 2020, three middle-aged and young medical high-end talents of Chongqing, one academic and technical leader of Chongqing and one candidate for the leader role.
In 2020, the center served 1.66 million outpatients and 41,700 inpatients. The number of live births reached 17,600, and 14,200 cases of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) were conducted in 2020.
The hospital has two areas: the Ranjiaba Branch and the Qixinggang Branch, both under homogenized management.
The Ranjiaba Branch, with 900 beds, is located at No.120 Longshan Road of Yubei district, covers more than 100,000 square meters. It opened on December 28, 2016 with departments of Maternal and Obstetric Health, Women's Health, Child Health and Family Planning.
It also has clinical departments in obstetrics, general gynecology, gynecologic pelvic floor and oncology, cervical diseases, reproductive endocrinology, critical care medicine, women's health care, family planning, child health care, neonatology, pediatric outpatient, ophthalmology and otolaryngology, stomatology, galactophore, Traditional Chinese Medicine, nutriology and psychology.
The Qixinggang Branch, at No.64 Jintang street in Yuzhong district, covers more than 20,000 square meters and has 100 beds. It focuses on human assisted reproductive technology. On April 10, 1997, the first tube baby of Western China was born there. It was the first human-assisted reproductive center approved by the former Ministry of Health and is one of the eleven human-assisted reproductive technology training bases in the country.
