Laboratory Department
Founded in 1945, the Laboratory Department of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, has developed into a modern clinical medical laboratory integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. The department is comprised of four sub-specialty laboratories, namely the clinical basic laboratory, biochemical immunity laboratory, clinical microbiology laboratory, and clinical molecular diagnosis laboratory.
The laboratory has a comprehensive quality management system for clinical medical testing and actively participates in the inter-laboratory quality assessment activities of the National Center for Clinical Laboratories and the Chongqing Center for Clinical Laboratories, achieving excellent results over the years. The laboratory is also a provincial-level training base for technicians engaged in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of AIDS, syphilis and hepatitis B, and it joined the "National Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network" in 2014.
In the past three years, the department has been approved for one project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and nine projects at the provincial-ministerial level, and published more than 30 papers in domestic and foreign journals, including 10 collected by the Science Citation Index (SCI). It has also won honorary titles like the "National Women's Civilized Post" and "Chongqing Anti-epidemic Pioneer".
Technical expertise
The department possesses world-class instruments and equipment, equipped with an Abbott full-automatic chemiluminescence detection assembly line, Sysmex full-automatic blood analysis and coagulation analysis assembly line, Hitachi 7180, 7600 full-automatic biochemical analyzer, microbial mass spectrometry identification system, full-automatic microbial identification and drug sensitivity system, ABI7500 real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR analyzer, Luminex liquid phase chip analyzer, and other advanced detection platforms, providing patients with efficient and accurate laboratory examinations.
