Established in 2003, the Pregnancy Health Center of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, was renamed from the former Obstetrics Clinic. Adhering to the patient-centered service concept, the department is committed to providing safe, and high-quality diagnosis and treatment services for pregnant women.

The center has specialties such as an early pregnancy filing clinic, midwife clinic, pregnancy nutrition clinic, perinatal psychological clinic, gestational diabetes one-day clinic, etc. It is responsible for the whole-process management of pregnancy in sub-specialty clinics for all pregnant women filed according to pregnancy risk assessment and five-color warning classification. It also provides pregnant women with various pregnancy health care technical services, including nutritional health analysis, psychological assessment and screening, and professional guidance on natural childbirth.

The center has participated in several scientific research projects and has published five papers collected by the Science Citation Index (SCI). On average, 22,000 pregnant women are registered for early pregnancy every year at the center, with the number of outpatient visits as high as 200,000.

Technical expertise

The center boasts equipment such as a mobile electronic fetal heart rate monitoring system, pregnancy-induced hypertension detection system, body composition analyzer, ultrasonic bone densitometer, and central oxygen supply machine. It offers services including fetal heart rate electronic monitoring, bone density and weight management, oxygen inhalation during pregnancy, yoga during pregnancy, and hypertension screening.

In 2022, based on the school for pregnant women, the center cooperated with the China Maternal and Child Health Association to build the Chongqing Maternal and Child Health Education Center, an offline and online comprehensive and diversified pregnancy education demonstration project base.

Based on the previous comprehensive teaching room, it has expanded multiple functional areas, including a yoga room, simulated delivery room, recording and broadcasting room, children's play area, mother and baby room, rest area, etc., which are more spacious and comfortable. A number of senior lecturers are set to promote pregnancy healthcare knowledge here, with various pregnancy activities fully meeting the needs of pregnant women.
