Delivery Center
The Delivery Center of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, is equipped with 24 waiting beds, seven delivery beds, one labor analgesia room, one emergency operation room, one neonatal resuscitation room, and one postpartum observation room. Each delivery room possesses advanced equipment and facilities, including a multifunctional delivery bed, central monitoring system, neonatal radiation platform (equipped with a complete set of neonatal emergency equipment), etc. The center has four family delivery rooms, where midwives offer one-to-one services.
As the first hospital in China with a perinatal center meeting the German Class I standard–the highest level, the CQHCWC's Delivery Center has independently set up a neonatal resuscitation room, owning the country's first Giraffe Shuttle in-hospital transfer vehicle for newborns. It boasts a multidisciplinary rescue team with rapid response capability composed of obstetricians, ICU, anesthesiology department, neonatologists, and midwives.
In the past year, a total of 168 cases of cesarean section for ultra-premature infants with a gestational age of fewer than 32 weeks and a weight of fewer than 1,500 grams were completed at the center, and 216 cases of ultra-premature infants were resuscitated, which maximized the quality of resuscitation management of extremely/ultra-premature infants in the perinatal center, as well as the survival rate and rescue rate of deficient birth weight infants.
As one of the first batches of national labor analgesia pilot hospitals, the center is equipped with a particular labor analgesia room, where anesthesiologists offer 7 x 24 hours to provide labor analgesia services for pregnant women at any time to improve the quality of childbirth. Based on the "safe delivery room," the department improves the experience and happiness of pregnant women during childbirth, giving them physical care, psychological and emotional guidance, and support during labor. Family members are allowed to accompany new mothers throughout the process.
As a national obstetrics and gynecology base for standardized training of resident physicians, and Chongqing midwifery technology training base, as well as Chongqing nurse standardized training base, the center has undertaken seven scientific research projects at municipal and hospital levels, published 26 academic papers, and developed three new technologies and projects. It also took on two health-appropriate technology promotion projects of the Chongqing Health Commission.
