Gynecology Fourth Department (Gynecological Endocrinology Department)
The Gynecology Fourth Department (Gynecological Endocrinology Department) of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, was established in 1989.
It is one of the first gynecological endocrinology training bases for the China Maternal and Child Health Association. It is also a training base for infertility/gynecological endocrinology in Southwest China, offering more than 300 times of training to primary medical workers annually. It has been honored as an excellent training base for consecutive years.
The department is a key specialty department of menopause health care in Chongqing, a national specialty department of menopause health care, and a pilot unit for constructing the National Health Commission's gynecological endocrine diagnosis and treatment capabilities.
It also formulated the Chongqing Health Commission's menopause healthcare development planning during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25). In 2021, it guided four units to be approved as the characteristic clinic of menopause health care in Chongqing.
With outpatient clinics and inpatient wards in both Ranjiaba and Qixinggang branches of the CQHCWC, the department has seven outpatient clinics and 92 patient beds.
Technical expertise
Treatment of infertility caused by various factors such as ovulation disorders, fallopian tube obstruction or hydrops, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, intrauterine adhesions, endometrial polyps, uterine septum, uterine incision diverticulum, etc. Diagnosis and treatment of recurrent miscarriage, polycystic ovary syndrome, abnormal uterine bleeding, hyperprolactinemia, abnormal sexual development, and menstrual diseases (such as hypomenorrhea, hypermenorrhea, menstrual disorders, and amenorrhea).
It carries out minimally invasive surgery for infertility based on the principle of protecting fertility, including laparoscopic tubal plastic surgery, recanalization, hysteroscopic separation of intrauterine adhesions, endometrial polypectomy, uterine mediastinum resection, uterine incision diverticulum repair, and more. After intrauterine adhesions, it launched fallopian tube interventional therapy under hysteroscopic laparoscopy, single-port laparoscopy, and amniotic membrane transplantation.
For couples with infertility and repeated spontaneous abortion, psychological counseling, and behavior guidance, minimally invasive reproductive surgery, hysteroscopic laparoscopic surgery, endocrine therapy, traditional Chinese medicine and physical therapy, ovulation induction therapy, miscarriage therapy, and more comprehensive treatment measures are provided, to improve pregnancy rate of infertile couples and re-pregnancy term birth rate of repeated spontaneous abortion patients.
The department also carries out health screening assessment and file management of pelvic floor function, nutrition and weight status, psychological status, bone density, etc., of patients with menopausal syndrome and formulates follow-up plans. It timely provides individualized sex hormone supplementation therapy and long-term project management for suitable groups, and pays follow-up visits regularly. It provides diagnosis and treatment of common menopausal problems such as menstrual disorders, menopausal syndrome, abnormal uterine bleeding (endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial polyps, etc.), senile vaginitis, menopausal low bone mass, and osteoporosis. It also cooperates with the pelvic floor, nutrition, psychology, breast, internal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, pharmacy, and other departments to carry out multidisciplinary collaborative management of menopausal women.
Besides, the department formulates systematic long-term management measures for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome to adjust menstruation, promote fertility, and prevent endometrial cancer and diabetes.
