Guo holds a doctorate degree and serves as a postgraduate tutor and chief physician. He has been a visiting scholar at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University Boston Children's Hospital in the United States and the National Hospital Organization Okayama Medical Center in Japan. Guo is a member of the Hepatobiliary Professional Group of the Society of Pediatric Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association and the Organ Transplantation Branch of the Chongqing Medical Association.

He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and anorectal diseases in newborns and children. Guo is highly proficient in abdominal laparoscopic procedures.

His impressive academic contributions include overseeing a project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and three projects supported by the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Commission. Guo has also published 85 papers indexed in the English Science Citation Index (SCI).
