The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, in Southwest China's Chongqing, established its Pediatric Surgery Department to carry out the diagnosis and treatment of newborns and children with birth defects and diseases.

To offer more convenient and higher-quality medical services to children, the department now provides surgery services on Saturdays.

Guo Chunbao, chief physician and leader of the department, is a well-known expert and professor in the fields of neonatal surgery and pediatric surgery.

The department, together with well-known domestic experts, has established an integrated multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultation model which features experts from fetal, neonatal and pediatric surgery departments.

This model helps reduce the risk factors that come into play when transferring pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns, thus improving the chances of a full recovery.
