CQHCWC, Affiliated Hospital of SWMU partner in fetal surgery

The signing and launch ceremony of the "Fetal Surgery Alliance" between the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, and the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University (SWMU), was held on March 5 in Luzhou, Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Attendees of the ceremony included Tang Xuyan, director of the Maternal and Child Health Division of the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, Deng Xuan, director of the Maternal and Child Health Division of the Health Commission of Sichuan Province, Qi Hongbo, president of the CQHCWC, and Lyu Muhan, vice-president of the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU.

In recent years, the governments and health commissions of Sichuan and Chongqing have signed several agreements to deepen cooperation and exchanges.

The participation of the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU as a unit of the CQHCWC's "Fetal Surgery Alliance" marked a new starting point for comprehensive cooperation between Sichuan and Chongqing in terms of the management of health resources, and will accelerate cooperation between the two places in health resources.

Following the signing ceremony, a lecture tour on the integrated diagnosis and treatment of abnormal fetal development was unveiled. Experts including Chen Gongli, Guo Chunbao, Chen Jun, Zhang Xuemei and Jiang Yan gave lectures on topics ranging from the current development of fetal surgery and prevention and treatment strategies for fetoscope post-operation premature birth to key points of ultrasound evaluation of complex twins.

Experts from the CQHCWC also discussed cases of abnormal fetal development with experts from the obstetrics department, prenatal diagnosis center, pediatric surgery department, and abdominal ultrasound department of the Affiliated Hospital of SWMU.

The cooperation is expected to further improve fetal medicine diagnosis and treatment in Southwest China, promote maternal and child safety and fertility optimization, and contribute to the high-quality development of fetal surgery diagnosis and treatment in Sichuan province and Chongqing.
