The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, recently held the second Chongqing Maternal and Child Public Welfare Festival, to celebrate the 113th International Women's Day.

A series of activities were organized, where medical professionals offered free consultations and health guidance to women.

On March 5, CQHCWC medical workers went to the Maoxi and Cuntan communities in Jiangbei district. They measured the blood pressure of residents, handed out health education materials, prescribed prescriptions, and checked breast and thyroid diseases, which helped improve the self-care awareness and disease prevention capabilities of women.

On March 8, the prenatal diagnosis laboratory in the Ranjiaba branch made its debut to the public. Equipped with fully-automatic microscopes and other high-quality equipment and facilities, the lab will mainly carry out tests on abnormalities in the number of chromosomes and on the abnormal structures of large chromosome fragments.

CQHCWC experts also provided free consultation services for women in the Ranjiaba branch on that day. These included prenatal diagnosis, maternal health care, dietary nutrition advice, traditional Chinese medicine, and blood pressure measurements.
