Sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, the final round of Chongqing's first Children's Health Care Knowledge and Skills Competition was held on Jan 11-12 at the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, in Southwest China's Chongqing.

The competition aimed to develop more high-quality personnel in the children's healthcare service field. Leading figures such as Li Pan, deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission; Tang Xuyan, director of the Maternal and Child Health Division at the commission; and Wang Jian, secretary of the Party committee of CQHCWC, attended the event.

The CQHCWC planned the competition and undertook the pre-competition training for the event, which was launched in June last year in all districts of the city. It included three rounds, and attracted more than 1,100 children's healthcare workers around the city to participate.

Following the first two rounds, a total of 36 contestants from 12 district and county teams reached the finals.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the finals, Tang welcomed attending experts and highlighted that all health administrative departments should carry out more skills and knowledge competitions to help improve the healthcare service abilities of related medical workers, so as to provide comprehensive and considerate medical and healthcare services for children.

Wang stressed that the CQHCWC has always given high priority to children's health and safety, hoping that the contest would deepen the concept among medical workers in other facilities around the city.

Following fierce competition and deliberation, the Bishan district team won first prize, the Jiangjin district and Kaizhou district teams won second prizes, and the Wansheng Jingkai district, Yunyang county and Yubei district teams won third prizes.

The event was held both offline and online, with more than 130 people on the scene and over 3,000 online viewers attending the final contest.

As an important measure to encourage children's healthcare workers to enhance their profession, the contest has helped to lay the foundation for strengthening talent and building a high-quality service system in the city's children's healthcare sector.
