The Pharmacy Department of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, in Southwest China's Chongqing, has recently been listed among key specialty construction projects related to the clinical pharmacy in the city, according to an announcement made by the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission.

The selected key specialty being recognized is pediatric medicine – considered a subcategory of clinical pharmacy.

The CQHCWC's clinical pharmacy work started in 2006, and the Pharmacy Department now has 11 full-time clinical pharmacists and 10 resident clinical pharmacists, among whom three have doctorates and eight have master's degrees. There are 1.79 clinical pharmacists per 100 beds.

The specialty, covering seven majors – pediatric medicine, anti-tumor medicine, anti-infective medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, critical care medicine, and pain medicine – is a national and municipal clinical pharmacy standardized training base.

In recent years, the CQHCWC has been improving its pharmacy services and focusing more on patients so as to ensure the safety and health of women and children.

In the future, the center will seek to further improve its pharmacy discipline construction, develop high-quality pharmacy services for women and children, and continue to play a leading role in the development of pharmacy services for women and children in the city.
