The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, in Southwest China's Chongqing, has recently held a variety of activities to mark the 31st World Breastfeeding Week, which fell on Aug 1-7.

Breast milk is the best natural food for babies, and breastfeeding can improve the health of both mothers and babies. The activities aimed to promote breastfeeding to more people, attracting the online and offline participation of more than 1,000 expectant and new mothers, as well as their family members.

On Aug 2, medical workers from the Health Education Department, the Obstetrics Department, the Women's Health Care Department, the Psychology Department, and the Breast Department visited four postpartum mothers to offer professional guidance in breastfeeding, postpartum rehabilitation, and infant care, so as to help solve difficulties faced by mothers and their families in the feeding process.

On Aug 4, medical workers from the Health Education Department, the Obstetric Outpatient Department, the Obstetrics Second Department, and the Nutrition Department held a live broadcast event at the CQHCWC.

Through a performance and lectures on breast milk and breastfeeding, the event taught expectant and new mothers about breastfeeding both offline and online.

In addition, a series of activities, such as games and quizzes, were also organized by various departments to teach mothers and inform them how to seek professional medical help when faced with problems during breastfeeding.

As a national-level baby-friendly hospital and municipal-level science promotion base, the CQHCWC will continue to promote, encourage and support breastfeeding, and organize promotional activities to improve social and family awareness of breastfeeding.
