The Children's Health Care Department of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, in Southwest China's Chongqing, recently held an educational activity to raise awareness for allergies to mark the 18th World Allergy Day, which fell on July 8.

Allergies are currently the most common chronic diseases and are listed by the World Health Organization as one of three major health issues that need to be dealt with in the 21st century.

The CQHCWC activity aimed to raise awareness of allergy prevention among infants and young children and improve family infant care.

Educators from the Children's Health Care Department held educational activities for parents who came to see a doctor. They gave professional explanations of the classification, manifestations, causes, and measures to prevent common allergies among infants and young children.

Parents also asked questions and received professional answers and gifts were given to participants.

Part of the "Wan Li Xing" project, which is a national large-scale maternal and child public welfare science promotion project, the activity will run for a month to educate families about allergies in infants.

As a national-level early childhood development demonstration base and the Chongqing Infant Nursing and Care Guidance Center, the Children's Health Care Department of the CQHCWC will continue to educate more children and families so as to improve public health.
