The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (Women and Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University), or CQHCWC, located in Southwest China's Chongqing, has long been committed to rural vitalization and even sends staff members to contribute to rural vitalization efforts.
Xiao Nian, an employee at CQHCWC, was selected last May to work in Lizi township in Fengdu county, as part of rural vitalization efforts.
Over the past year, Xiao has been engaged in work like studying rural policies on housing safety, subsistence allowances, and public welfare positions, as well as studying things related to agricultural technology, including farm toilet renovation, mountain pond construction, and farmland suitable for mechanization.
He has helped organize business training sessions, convinced capable locals to return to their hometowns, and explored intellectual support projects. He has also helped arrange for experts to conduct research and even formulated a rural vitalization plan for Lizi township to determine the direction of future efforts.

To promote a high-quality Lizi rice project, Xiao helped expand the scale of alpine organic rice cultivation and improve the quality of the rice. He also made promotional videos and held harvest festival live stream activities to promote local rice. In addition, he encouraged returning talent to establish agricultural product processing factories to increase the added value of agricultural products.
Furthermore, Xiao has cooperated with the CQHCWC to help carry out local rural vitalization. The center raised 500,000 yuan ($73,650) in funds in the past year to promote poverty alleviation in Lizi township and generated 740,000 yuan in consumption support, 440,000 yuan above the quota.
Taking advantage of both online and offline platforms, the township and the labor union of the CQHCWC have cooperated to organize various exhibitions and sales activities, selling more than 10 kinds of agricultural and sideline products valued at more than 80,000 yuan. The center has also provided over 930 books for students in Lizi township.

As an expert in child health care, Xiao took full advantage of his skills and regularly visited the health center of Lizi township to offer child care clinic services and give lectures to medical workers there.
He also got into contact with the medical and nursing departments of the CQHCWC, asking them to send gynecology and pediatric experts to Lizi township to offer free clinical services and provide local children and women with prevention guidance, health education and consulting services.
A series of lectures and activities themed on care for adolescents, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, adolescent reproductive health, nutrition, and psychology were also held.
Moving forward, the CQHCWC will continue to support rural revitalization in various ways.
