The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC), located in Southwest China's Chongqing, completed the evaluation of the Chongqing Obstetrics Quality Control Center by an expert committee from the National Center for Healthcare Quality Management in Obstetrics on March 30.

The evaluation was held online with the participation of Qi Hongbo, president of the CQHCWC, Zhou Wei, vice-president of the center, and other relevant staff members.

Zhou reported on the center's key work and the management of obstetric medical quality in 2021, as well as its recent planning, which was well received by the group of experts.

Zhou pointed out that over the past year, the hospital has added seven district and county-level quality control centers and carried out obstetrics quality inspections in 29 districts and counties and 52 medical midwifery institutions throughout the city. It has also cooperated with municipal critical care centers to carry out on-site investigations on maternal and infant safety in 13 cases of maternal deaths. All these efforts were aimed at strengthening healthcare quality management in obstetrics.

Qi said that the center will make more efforts to reduce maternal mortality and complications of vaginal delivery. It will also flexibly adopt online and offline methods to carry out quality assessments and training so as to promote the standardized management of midwifery institutions in the city.

In addition, the center will launch regional obstetrician and pediatrician training projects across the city to give full play to its leading role among primary medical and health institutions.

The CQHCWC received approval to become the Chongqing Obstetrics Quality Control Center in June 2004, and since then, it has continuously improved the city's obstetrics quality control network system, formulated obstetrics quality control standards and management norms, actively carried out business guidance and training, and continued to improve obstetrics quality. It has been named an excellent quality control center in Chongqing for three consecutive years since 2018.

Moving forward, the center will improve the quality management of obstetric medical care to offer comprehensive healthcare for every pregnant and lying-in woman.
