Experts from the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC), located in Southwest China's Chongqing, offered free clinical services to children on Feb 12.
Adhering to strict COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures, the services were used by nearly 100 children. Its aim was to promote the standardized diagnosis and treatment of children's diseases and improve the health of children.
During the activity, Li Xuemei, chief physician at the Pediatric Outpatient Department, provided detailed consultations and physical examinations for children with recurrent respiratory tract infection symptoms, such as stuffy nose, runny nose, and chronic coughing. She also emphasized the importance of standard medication.
Zhang Li, a deputy chief physician, drew growth and development curves according to children's age, height and weight, giving them a comprehensive growth and development assessment. She also screened patients with short stature, obesity, and precocious puberty, establishing growth files for them and offering bone age tests for those with short stature.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician Luo Yang also analyzed each child's possible diseases using traditional diagnostic methods, and promoted TCM treatment methods such as massage to parents.
In addition, more than 200 copies of various health education publicity documents were given out to parents.
The activity is considered to have effectively assessed the health status of children and strengthened awareness of children's disease prevention and treatment.
Moving forward, the CQHCWC will continue to improve specialized diagnosis and treatment of children's diseases and provide higher-quality services.
