The Obstetrics Second Department of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children, or CQHCWC, is a sub-specialty of the Obstetrics Department. The department ward includes the third ward and the seventh ward areas. The department currently has three chief physicians (Wang Lan, Gao Yan, Chen Yimei), three attending physicians, nine resident physicians, and a total of 34 nursing staff members. It provides 56 beds for patients, including family wards and general wards (triple room). The department receives more than 170 outpatient visits per day and more than 430 inpatients per month.

The department excels in consultation, inspection and guidance before pregnancy, as well as education, management and measurement during pregnancy. Following years of clinical work experience, medical workers in the department have boasted excellent techniques to handle various dystocia, obstetric comorbidities and complications, such as placenta previa, abruptio placentae, scarred uterus, etc. They can also properly deal with various emergencies and critical situations, such as massive bleeding and eclampsia.

In addition, the CQHCWC established a twins specialist in 2016, since then the department has offered specialized treatment for twins and management of twin pregnancies. Due to the high risk of premature delivery of twins, the twins specialist has taken a two-pronged approach for premature delivery. On the one hand, it focuses on the risk of miscarriage from the 20th week of pregnancy and adopts corresponding measures to prolong gestation as long as possible. On the other hand, it relies on the construction of a perinatal medical center at the CQHCWC to work with various departments and improve the treatment of ultra-premature infants. The success rates of treatment for ultra-premature infants at 25, 26, and 27 weeks of gestation are 60, 70, and 80 percent, respectively.
