The Obstetrics Third Department of the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children, or CQHCWC, is a sub-specialty of the Obstetrics Department that focuses on diagnosis and treatment of vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) and thyroid dysfunction during pregnancy. In addition to being good at treating various obstetric high-risk pregnancies and intractable diseases, as well as handling various dystocia, obstetric comorbidities and complications, the department also features VBAC. Since the launch of the VBAC service in October 2019, the department has successfully carried out nearly 100 VBAC deliveries. All mothers and babies remained safe and the vaginal delivery rate was 95 percent. It has already had an impact on the obstetrics industry and among the public in Chongqing.

The department has a postpartum rehabilitation center, which is a pelvic floor rehabilitation training center of the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe (BEF) that provides non-invasive and safe bioelectrical feedback treatment for patients with postpartum and pelvic floor dysfunction diseases. It also offers a series of rehabilitation treatments such as promoting lactation, body shaping, and muscle tension recovery – in response to the bodily function changes and needs of postpartum women. The center has a set of Vishee RAYEE-A type pelvic floor electromyography biofeedback instruments, eight sets of SA9800, three sets of PoLinGer YS-P400 type rehabilitation multi-system therapy instruments, and four sets of YS-1.

The department ward is currently located on the eighth floor of the inpatient department and is divided into the fifth and sixth wards, providing 40 beds for patients that are mainly single rooms and VIP suites.

It currently has 15 physicians, including two with doctoral degrees and 10 with master's degrees. One is a chief physician and three are deputy chief physicians. The department's team has been professionally trained in obstetric clinical processing techniques and works with all sub-specialties of the Obstetrics Department to offer obstetric treatment technique training to medical workers at primary hospitals every year.

The department is one of several treatment and referral centers for critically ill pregnant women in Chongqing. Patients are mainly from Jiangbei district, Hechuan district, Tongnan district, Chengkou county, Liangjiang New Area, and other districts and counties in the city. The department gives full play to its responsibilities as a municipal-level critical pregnant women treatment center, adhering to standardized diagnosis and treatment standards, and establishing an obstetrics in and out-of-hospital referral system and procedures along with other sub-specialties of the Obstetrics Department so as to optimize emergency and first-level emergency cesarean section procedures and ensure the safety of patients.
