A group of children's health management and technical experts from the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC) in Southwest China's Chongqing visited poverty alleviated areas in the city from Sept 13 to 29 to survey local children's nutrition improvement projects and offer free clinical services.

This was meant to improve the service capacity of children's health workers in such areas and promote the implementation of children's nutrition improvement projects.

Experts visited eight areas, including Wushan and Fengjie counties. They referred to materials, checked facilities and equipment, conducted interviews, and surveyed management agencies and nutrition pack distribution agencies at all levels.

They also offered advice on management and proposed improvement measures in the storage and distribution process of nutrition packs and the use of height and weight measurement equipment.

They also spread awareness of how to properly feed children.

In addition, the experts visited maternal and child health care centers in Wuxi, Yunyang, Xiushan, and Shizhu counties, offering physical assessments, nutritional feeding guidance, height promotion consultations, high-risk children intervention, and other health care services for nearly 200 children with special needs.

Moreover, experts demonstrated professional and standardized diagnosis, treatment techniques, counseling and guidance skills among local medical workers.

This event evaluated the implementation of children's nutrition improvement projects in the city's districts and counties, and has improved the children's health service capabilities of primary medical institutions. It is expected to propel the further development of children's nutrition improvement work and the promotion of children's health in the city.
