A pair of super-premature twins was recently successfully transferred to the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC) in Southwest China's Chongqing to receive further treatment.

The twin babies were born at the gestational age of only 26 weeks, with a weight of more than 700 grams each. They showed a symptom of breathing difficulties under non-invasive ventilation, so former doctors and parents decided to transfer them to the CQHCWC.

After receiving the call for assistance, experts from the Neonatal Ward of CQHCWC assessed risks and difficulties of medical treatment and the transfer in detail, discussing the possibility of adopting invasive ventilation methods during the transfer to keep babies' vital signs stable.

Zhong Xiaoyun, director of the Neonatal Department of CQHCWC, discussed detailed treatment plans with transfer team members and rehearsed while on the way to pick up the twins.

Travelling a distance of about 450 kilometers, they picked up the twins and successfully transferred them to the ambulance. With two vehicle-mounted ventilators and other medical equipment providing life support, the vital signs of the twin brothers gradually stabilized.

After five hours, the babies arrived at the CQHCWC and were immediately transferred to the Shuttle, which is a piece of advanced rescue and transport equipment known as the "Rolls Royce" for newborns. The twins were then transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit to receive further treatment.
