A group of municipal-level premature infant care experts and management staff members from 10 districts and counties in Southwest China's Chongqing were busy with premature infant care work from June to July this year.

Organized by the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC), the group visited six districts and counties in the city – including Changshou district, Dazu district, and Yubei district – to carry out surveys and offer guidance in premature infant care work.

The goal was to learn about the development of healthcare for premature infants in the city and further strengthen management capabilities and improve services in the field.

Team members visited district and county-level maternal and child healthcare institutions and township-level medical and health institutions and learned in detail about the current informatization development of premature infant management and the health management model for these babies through reports, on-site visits, data verification, document reviews, and interviews.

They discussed informatization management methods for premature infants and ways to increase the rate of follow-up compliance behaviors of the parents of premature infants.

In response to problems such as non-standard management of premature infant projects and the lack of standardization in child growth and development monitoring and evaluation by some pediatric doctors, experts from the team also offered advice.

The investigation provided an exchange platform for premature infant care workers in districts and counties and helped improve the management quality and health service capabilities of premature babies.

It is also expected to help the city further standardize health care services for premature infants, reduce their mortality rate, and improve their quality of life.
