Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC), located in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, held the 2021 gynecology and obstetrics anesthesia and analgesia training session on June 20 and 21.
Held simultaneously were the obstetric anesthesia and analgesia standardized management summit and the West China obstetric anesthesia forum.
More than 100 experts attended the event from places such as Shanghai, Sichuan province, Yunnan province and Chongqing municipality.
Wang Jian, secretary of the Party committee of CQHCWC, addressed the opening ceremony on June 20. She emphasized that obstetric anesthesia matters to the lives of both mother and child and is full of challenges. As such, the obstetric anesthesia team needs to continuously improve its professional skills and enhance its anesthesia handling capacity during the perioperative period for various critical patients.

During the forum, 11 anesthesia and obstetrics experts gave lectures on topics such as labor analgesia, clinical scientific research, obstetric critical illness, and obstetrics and fetus surgical anesthesia management. They discussed hot issues and new developments in obstetric anesthesia, and shared their clinical experiences.
The experts were from the Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, Sichuan Provincial Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, among others.
On June 21, attendees visited the Anesthesiology Department, operating rooms and delivery rooms of CQHCWC to gain knowledge of labor analgesia, anesthesia management for puerpera with eclampsia and amniotic fluid embolism, and more.
The event provided a learning and communication platform for maternal and child anesthesiologists in China's western region and helped improve the clinical ability and scientific research level of obstetric anesthesia. It also laid a foundation for the coordinated development of obstetric anesthesia and labor analgesia in Chongqing and West China.
