Anesthesiology Department
Established in 1987, the Anesthesiology Department of Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children, or CQHCWC – located in Southwest China's municipality of Chongqing – has evolved over the years into a clinical department that integrates medical treatment, teaching and scientific research.
The department is responsible for the hospital's obstetrics and gynecology surgical anesthesia, intensive care, rescue and resuscitation, postoperative analgesia, painless induced abortion, painless childbirth and more. It has made great advancements in the anesthesia and perioperative management of elderly patients, boasting rich clinical experience.
The department has a skilled, responsible and professional anesthesiologist and nursing team. They carry out intraspinal anesthesia, general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation, laryngeal mask airway insertions, arterial punctures and venipunctures, and other operations – fully guaranteeing safe and smooth surgery.
Surgery currently carried out includes various types of gynecological laparoscopic operations, hysteroscopic procedures, extensive hysterectomies for gynecological tumors, pelvic floor reconstruction, cesarean sections, among others.

The department, located on the 11th floor of the inpatient department, has seven operating rooms and one resuscitation room. Four of the operating facilities are endoscopic surgery rooms, which are mainly used to carry out laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, while three others are used to perform obstetric surgery and gynecological laparotomies.
The department also opened an anesthesia clinic, located at the resuscitation room. It conducts preoperative evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients, patients with complications, high-risk pregnant women and patients with problems in preoperative examinations.
It has eight imported anesthesia machines, one ventilator, 18 multifunctional monitors, two imported defibrillators and other equipment – such as anesthesia monitors, anesthesia depth monitoring and invasive arteriovenous monitoring devices.
Each operating room is equipped with oxygen supply and inhalation devices, aspirators and simple artificial respirators. Each anesthesia station comes equipped with a defibrillator, video laryngoscope, high laryngeal laryngoscope, a bedside blood gas analyzer, an invasive hemodynamic detector and other rescue and monitoring equipment.
