The Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat (EENT) Department of Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC) is a specialized department focusing on eye care and the treatment of common EENT diseases. The department's professional medical personnel are engaged in EENT health care for infants, children, pregnant women and new mothers.

The department’s services include consultation for hereditary eye diseases and diseases that cause deafness before pregnancy, diagnosis and treatment of common EENT diseases during pregnancy, eye disease and hearing screening for newborns, and myopia prevention and health care, hearing care, hearing re-screening and diagnosis for children. The department also treats common EENT diseases for women and children.

Taking prevention as the priority and treatment as the supplement, the department provides comprehensive EENT health care services for women and children.

The department is also Chongqing's municipal-level children and adolescents' myopia prevention and control base, as designated by the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission (formerly the Chongqing Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission). It is responsible for technical guidance, team training, publicity and education, quality control, diagnosis and treatment of difficult cases, standard designations, appropriate technology promotion, and scientific research for myopia prevention and control for the city's children and adolescents. It also guides work for district-level, county-level and regional myopia prevention and control centers.

Specialty services: Neonatal eye disease screening (retinopathy of prematurity), infant lacrimal diseases, neonatal hearing screening and diagnosis, and the prevention and control of children's myopia.

Equipment: CQHCWC uses the world's most advanced screening equipment, including a wide-area digital children's retinal imaging acquisition system (RetCam3), and is the leader in the general screening of neonatal eye diseases in Chongqing. The EENT department is equipped with advanced facilities such as a binocular indirect ophthalmoscope, a synoptophore, a fully automatic refractor, an endoscope and an electronic otoscope, among others.

The department currently has seven doctors, one technician and nine nurses. Among them, six have master's degrees.

Note: Online appointments should be made before seeing doctors. Parents of children or patients who need to see a doctor should make an online appointment in advance from 4:30-4:40 pm every Thursday. However, online appointments for neonatal eye disease screening are temporarily unavailable. Parents of children who need such a screening should make an on-site appointment at the EENT Department at the Ranjiaba Branch or three days in advance by phone.
