An expert meeting on prenatal ultrasound quality control was held on March 10 in Chongqing, Southwest China, by Chongqing's obstetrics medical quality control center.
It was held to promote the management and quality control of prenatal ultrasound medical treatment in the municipality and further improve the standardization of prenatal ultrasound examinations.
More than 20 experts attended the meeting, including Dan Yang, vice-president of Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC), representatives from the Maternity and Child Department of the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission (formerly the Chongqing Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission) and heads of ultrasound departments at district- and county-level medical institutions.
Ran Suzhen, director of CQHCWC's Ultrasonography Department, presided over the gathering.
During the meeting, experts discussed and exchanged views on standardizing obstetric ultrasound quality control indicators and critical values, formulating early pregnancy and level II obstetric ultrasound image storage specifications, quality control report templates and evaluation and scoring rules. They also gave advice on ultrasound quality management.
The meeting provided theoretical support for the further optimization of ultrasound examination technology and quality control methods, laying a solid foundation for improving the city's prenatal screening level and reducing fetal birth defects.
