Chongqing's maternity and child health (MCH) statistic work has received praise for its high quality from health experts following their recent inspection tour of the southwestern Chinese metropolis.
Entrusted by the Department of Maternal and Child Health of the National Health Commission, the four inspectors from the Office for National Maternal and Child Health Statistics of China focused on the city's management and quality of MCH statistics. They found that Chongqing has made an outstanding performance in MCH statistic collection and cross-platform sharing.
These conclusions were drawn after the inspectors visited local health institutions at various levels, including the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC), from Nov 24 to 26.
The inspectors gained a detailed understanding of Chongqing's MCH statistic work through the tour. At CQHCWC, they checked the city's annual MCH data report, focusing on the use of collected data. They also learned about the progress of a citywide MCH statistic system.
Inspectors also analyzed statistic work at other health institutions at the district, county and township levels and talked to rural doctors about their work.
As much as the inspectors were satisfied with Chongqing's accomplishments in MCH statistic work, they also made a few suggestions, such as improving work patterns, adapting to new industry trends, strengthening statistic analysis and using statistics to better serve government work.
