Hosted by Chongqing Municipal Health Commission and organized by Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC), a training session for grassroots obstetricians was held from Oct 12 to 16.
A total of 100 obstetricians selected from all of Chongqing's districts and counties participated in the instructional event.
During the training session, 33 well-known experts and scholars provided academic analysis on relevant laws, regulations and policies, specialized theoretical knowledge, as well as quality and safety management of obstetrics.
Training topics cover preconception care, prenatal care, pregnancy risk assessment, high-risk maternity case management, prenatal screening tests, safe midwifery, treatment for maternal near miss and postpartum care.
The training session helped to improve the comprehensive service quality and technical level of grassroots obstetricians in all aspects of pregnancy and the intrapartum and postpartum periods.
The healthcare training is also expected to advance the high-quality development of obstetric clinical work, effectively reduce maternal mortality and enhance maternal and infant health in the city.
After the one-week theory training session, all trainees were allocated to six training bases in Chongqing – including CQHCWC – for further on-site learning and online training.
