At a ceremony held in Chongqing on Sept 24, the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC) was approved to become one of the first four "sub-biobanks" of the Chongqing Biobank and joined the Chongqing Biobanking Association (CQBA).
The ceremony, which was held to mark CQBA's launch, attracted the participation of representatives from CQHCWC and other member units.
The Chongqing Biobank is a public scientific research service platform established by Chongqing Municipal Health Commission. It is open to the public and entrusted to the Chongqing Institute of Translational Medicine of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) – who should carry out operation and management in cooperation with the CAS BioBank.

The Chongqing Biobank will provide high-quality human sample storage management and sample detection for medical institutions, scientific research institutes and pharmaceutical enterprises, among other groups.
At the same time, it will take the lead to conduct personnel training through academic conferences and forums, standardize the management process and improve the construction level of biobank facilities at medical institutions.
CQHCWC will work with other member units to break down data silos, create a scientific, standardized and unified biobank of medical resources and strive to build an open, shared system for biobank resources.
