The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC) held a one-day training session on adolescent health care (sexual and reproductive health) on Aug 28.
The training aimed to assist maternity and child health care institutions in Chongqing's districts and counties to carry out various adolescent health activities.
With the combination of instruction and group counseling, the training attracted more than 65 participants from 40 maternity and child health care institutions.
During the session, Zhang Haiyan, chief of CQHCWC's Women's Health Department and her team, as well as Tong Qi, from the Chongqing Population and Family Planning Science and Technology Research Institute, gave lectures respectively.
They gave details on adolescents' group counseling and outreach services.
They also looked at the training materials for the adolescent sexual and reproductive health programs, the key points of adolescent sexual health care and the prevention of sexual assault – as well as the characteristics of adolescent development, among other things.
At the same time, they carried out the teaching demonstrations.
In the group counseling experience section, the teachers adopted a variety of modes to demonstrate methods that could be used for adolescents' group counseling, such as group practice, individual sharing and indoor operation. The participants actively spoke during the activity and gave good suggestions.
CQHCWC has been committed to the healthy development of adolescents and has promoted the construction of adolescent health care services in Chongqing.
The training course for adolescent health care provided a solid theoretical basis for the development of adolescent health care services in the city.
