The Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC) -- in Southwest China's Chongqing -- held a very special ceremony on Aug 19 to celebrate the nation's third Medical Workers' Day.

More than 200 people from the hospital attended the event, which thanked medical workers for their utmost dedication to saving lives and healing the sick -- accomplished routinely under heavy pressure and sometimes even extremely dangerous conditions, especially during the novel coronavirus epidemic.

Zhang Hua, president of the hospital, extended festive congratulations and greetings to medical workers who have worked hard on the clinical front line and made selfless contributions to people's health.

In his speech, Zhang encouraged all medical workers in the hospital to continue to carry on with an indomitable fighting spirit that never flagged in face of hardship, remaining true to their original noble aspirations and keeping their great mission firmly in mind.

He also proposed that they should provide better services for women and children and make greater contributions to their health.

A presentation of prizes began after the speech. Dan Yang, CQHCWC's vice president, presented certificates to model workers, including medical workers who had made many great contributions -- as well as representatives of outstanding departments and individuals who won awards in the activities celebrated by the country's third Medical Workers' Day.

All the attendees at the ceremony renewed the Oath of Chinese Physicians, taking it together in solemn and devout proceedings.

The hospital's deputy director Wang Jian gave a concluding speech, paying high tribute to all the medical workers. She emphasized that it was necessary to implement policy guarantees for medical workers in terms of boosting their professional development, improving conditions and creating a good atmosphere.

She urged all medical workers in the hospital to adhere to the spirit of seeking only the best and gladly shouldering great responsibilities, thereby making a significant new contribution to the building of a healthy China.
