Key CQHCWC perinatal surgery department officially opens
An important new surgery department recently opened at the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children (CQHCWC) in Southwest China's Chongqing.
Earlier this month, during the very first operation at the perinatal surgery department in CQHCWC, three fetoscopic operations were successfully completed within two weeks.
According to an Aug 21 statement on the public WeChat account of the CQHCWC, one of the fetoscopic operations involved the highly complex intrauterine treatment for congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) by fetoscopic tracheal occlusion; the other two were fetoscopic placental vascular coagulation for twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTs).
The new department is equipped to treat the following conditions and diagnosable diseases: unique complications of monochorionic twins, CDH, amniotic band syndrome (ABS), posterior urethral valve (PUV), myelomeningocele, maternal-fetal blood group incompatibility, fetal coelomic effusion, some fetal congenital heart disease, omphalocele, digestive tract atresia and fetal upper airway obstruction, among others.
