A delegation of 15 people in the fields of maternity and child health in Chengdu -- capital city of Southwest China's Sichuan province -- visited the Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children in the Southwest Chinese municipality of Chongqing for a professional exchange on May 19, according to CQHCWC officials.

At the meeting, representatives from the CQHCWC and officials from the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission talked about the developments, departments, business characteristics, public health management and information systems of the CQHCWC and the general situation regarding maternity and child health work in Chongqing.

Officials from Chengdu Municipal Health Commission said they were impressed by the overall standards and levels in Chongqing.

They were impressed by the results achieved by the CQHCWC in the management and treatment of high-risk pregnant women and women in postpartum confinement and newborns and the general development of the child healthcare network.

They expressed the hope that both sides could together build a common professional platform and boost work exchanges in the future.

Subsequently, the two sides communicated on specific measures for maternal and child health cooperation between Chengdu and Chongqing.

These included establishing a mechanism to share expertise, assigning personnel to each other for training and jointly carrying out special technical training.

They discussed how to strengthen the maternity and child public health management and promote the integration of health care and clinical services.
