Updated: 2020-02-28

3. G6PD deficiency

The treatment of G6PD deficiency should be strictly based on diet and drug prevention, avoid eating fava or broad beans and products, use some drugs carefully, pay attention to prevent colds and infections.

If the child's skin and sclera are yellow, their urine is in the color of sauce oil or strong tea (possibly accompanied by chills, fever, vomiting, waist and abdomen pain), then parents need to pay attention and observe closely. When necessary, they need to get personal protective measures against COVID-19 -- while at the same time, they need to take their child to hospital in time.

Banned food and drugs:

a. Food: broad beans; broad bean products

b. Antipyretic and analgesic drugs: acetanilide; aspirin; phenacetin; amidopyrine; pyramidon; antipyrine; diphenylbutazone; paracetamol

c. Sulfa and sulfone drugs: sulfonamide; sulfamethoxamide; sulfapyridinee; sulfanilamide; sulfamethoxydiazine; sulphamethoxypyridazine; sulfisoxazole; thiazosulfone

d. Antimalarial drugs: primaquine; plasmoquine; atebrine; quinine; chloroquine

e. Nonsulfonamide antibiotics: furazolidone; furacilinum; furadantin; chloramphenicol; acidum nalldixicum; para-aminosalicylic acid (PAs); rimifon

f. Traditional Chinese medicine: rhizoma coptidis; mistura sennae composita; bezoar; pearl powder

g. Others: quinindium; procainamide; propantheline; probenecid; methylene blue; naphthalene; trihexyphenidyl; levodopa; diphenhydramine; chlorphenamine; colchicine; oxytocin; menadione sodium bisulfite; dihydrochlorothiazide; dimercaptopropanol

4. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH)

Children with this CAH cannot stop taking medicine. Parents of these children need to reserve enough medicine for their children in time.

If the child has signs of infection, such as fever or is in stressed state, please contact the attending physician in time and increase the dosage of the medicine appropriately.

If the child has poor spirits, poor appetite, poor complexion, frequent vomiting and diarrhea, as well as decreased urine volumes, parents need to take personal and child protection measures against the COVID-19 and visit the hospital in a timely manner.

Reminder:

1. Parents must take the protective measures against COVID-19 to avoid infection, while traveling with their children to the local birth hospital or neonatal disease screening center for review.

2. If you only buy medicines and do not return to further consultation, parents can go to the hospital without their children -- but bring relevant clinical records and other information along.

3. If you have any questions, please follow and consult the WeChat public account of Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children, or call the neonatal screening center on 86-23-63720771.
