Child psychological intervention

Children's emotions and feelings are the basis of their mental health and are closely related to their immunity. Parents should watch out and act if their children appear to have the following emotional states:

1. Loneliness: When a child lacks playmates due to long stays at home and school semester delays, there may be periods of silence, inattention, lethargy, listlessness and lack of general interest.

Suggestion: Adults should increase communications with their children and play games to ease their loneliness.

2. Irritability: Extroverted children are prone to restlessness, hyperactivity, impulsiveness and bad tempers due to their long stay at home.

Suggestion: Family members and children should carry out peaceful communications, emotionally relaxing games and activities, such as poetry reading, painting, and calligraphy.

3. Sense of loss: Children staying at home for a long time and who have little space for activities may experience long-term depression, exhibiting dull faces, reduced movements and poor appetite.

Suggestion: Parents should play sports and games with children, sing or dance to music.

Can children with hereditary metabolic diseases postpone return medical visits?

Endocrine genetic metabolic diseases -- such as phenylketonuria, hypothyroidism, G6PD deficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and methylmalonic acid -- are mostly chronic conditions that require regular and long-term return medical visits.

However, postponing visits over a short period of time will have little impact on control of the illnesses mentioned above during the epidemic prevention and control period -- if reasonable medication, diet and good physical conditions are ensured.
