The medical staff of the Pediatric Department of Chongqing Health Center for Women and Children have actively responded to the novel coronavirus epidemic outbreak and bravely shouldered their responsibilities in their daily work, according to officials at the leading pediatric hospital.

Li Xuemei, director of the Pediatric Department of the CQHCWC, cancelled her ticket to visit her elderly parents in her home town during the Spring Festival, and instead organized the work flow to treat children with suspected symptoms.

A number of doctors and nurses in the department also gave up their holidays voluntarily to join in the battle against the epidemic.

Since most of the CQHCWC’s young patients are admitted for fever, the novel coronavirus pneumonia has made the current situation much more acute for the pediatric department than other medical departments, according to hospital officials.
